Meet the Artists 2009: Celia Kainz

Celia Kainz has been a painter and gardener for most of her life. On her 10th birthday she was given a box of watercolours and a few brushes. Vibrant colour appealed to her even then. At a much earlier time, she would follow her father around the many gardens he designed helping him to water the plants. And so, gardens and paintings became an important part of her life. Today, she can't be sure what comes first: the painting or whether the plants in the garden determine the colour and form of the paintings. Celia is the founder of the Art Colony Studio Tours that began on the 1000 Islands Parkway, as well as the New Year's Eve Concerts in Brockville.

Celia has lived in the 1000 Islands area for the past 26 years and moved to Brockville in 2001. No one was surprised when she instigated ART In The City, a studio tour in Brockville! Kainz's paintings, acrylic on canvas, capture images in time and space in brilliant colour.

You may contact Celia here

Here is Celia in her studio with just a few of the paintings that will be for sale during the "Art in the City" studio tour on Father's day weekend in June.
